  • Daniel Seavey Releases Debut Solo Album “Second Wind”

  • American singer-songwriter Daniel Seavey released his debut solo album “Second Wind” on March 7, 2025.

It is his first project in two years since the 2023 debut EP “Dancing in the Dark”.
Also, it is the first release since the lawsuit involving his former band, Why Don't We, has officially come to an end.
The album comprises 12 songs, including preceding singles “The Older You Get”, “Other People”, “Gateway Drug”, “If I Ever Get To Heaven” which is dedicated to his late friend Corey La Barrie, and the album's title track.
Produced by Daniel Seavey, Noah Conrad, slimdan, Jeremy Hatcher, Ehren Ebbage, Michael Pollack, Søren Breum, Vera, Steve Mac, The Monsters & Strangerz, and Isaiah Tejada.

Daniel Seavey said of the album, “Second Wind is about a boy desperately clinging on to his youth while life is trying to force him to grow up. It's a very light, warm, and slightly introspective album. A 'glass half full' sort of vibe. When I made this album I was going through a very hard time in life for a multitude of reasons. I noticed the second I started making happier songs, my perspective also started to shift outside of the studio. I started becoming optimistic again. I started hearing 'little me' in my music again and I loved that about it.”
  • He told Billboard about the differences between his previous EPs and the album, “With all my original EPs, I wrote those in a really tough time... I was in the thick of life being really hard. I wrote those first singles and EPs in my house and the difference was that I was completely on my own for the most of it… I produced the whole thing myself and it was great for that time, but the biggest difference of this last album was that I brought in some people who I love and immensely trust and it really reminded me of how fun music is. I think you can hear it in the songs.”

  • Daniel Seavey shared on social media, “I’m at a loss for words to explain exactly how I’m feeling right now. It’s been a pretty hectic couple of years for me, and it was insanely challenging for me to find my footing in life again if I’m being completely honest. In a lot of ways I felt like i had to completely hit the restart button. I had to rebuild. I had to push to remember who I was and who I wanted to be. this album is the first real step forward. It’s a fresh start, a new beginning. It’s my second wind. this album has given me purpose, hope, excitement, joy - a lot of feelings that were robbed from my heart for so long. I couldn’t be more excited to share this music with you.”

Daniel Seavey explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Second Wind”
“The day this song was made was absolute magic. I made it with my friends noah and dan. We were jamming to arcade fire for the last hour and out of nowhere this song fell straight from the sky to our studio. It became one of my favorite songs ive ever made. There’s so many layers of meaning in this song but one of my favorite meanings is that it’s about all of you. You guys have given me a second chance, a new perspective, a whole new burst of energy - then that thought became the feeling of the whole album - new beginnings, fresh starts, finding yourself and your path - I could go on forever about all that this song means to but I'm most excited to hear what it means to you. Enjoy.”

“The Older You Get” via Numéro Netherlands
“‘The Older You Get’ is a bit of a coming of age song. I am allergic to the thought of ever truly growing up, but there are moments in life that you can’t avoid, that will force you to have to grow up a bit. Some good moments, some bad, all of which are unavoidable. That’s just the way life goes. “The Older You Get” is an observation and appreciation for life and everything that comes with it.”

    “Gateway Drug”
“I have less to prove and more to express lately. Music is becoming fun for me again. ‘Gateway Drug’ is a super fun song and that’s exactly what I intended it to be. I have enough songs that tell stories about my life, or sad songs - I just wanted to make a fun one this time.”

“If I Ever Get To Heaven”
“I’ll never be able to answer all the questions that came with you leaving. And the questions will never stop coming. But I fully believe in my heart that there was a greater purpose, that you, fulfilled a greater purpose than anyone can even fathom. You were an angel walking this earth and anyone that knew you in the slightest knows that to be true. I miss you every single day. I’ve written hundreds of songs about you... This is the first time i felt that one of them is worth sharing. I love you Corey Labarrie with all my heart and i hope you hear this little song I made for you from heaven.”

    “Other People”
“'Other People' captures a situation where you just lost that spark. It’s about the breakups where nothing went wrong, but things just burned out. I don’t like the idea that people ever mean to do wrong to you, especially when it’s someone that loves you. I think sometimes people just have very different ways of going about the same thing, and sometimes that may mean that you’re just not a fit for each other, and that’s totally okay.”
