GEM Releases Debut Song “Hurts To Exist”
Istanbul-based singer-songwriter GEM released her debut song “Hurts To Exist” on March 7, 2025.
The song will appear on her upcoming 6-track debut EP “Overthinker”, which is expected to be released in 2025.
The track is a fearless reflection of inner turmoil, self-doubt, and resilience.
Visually, she draws inspiration from the ocean, her favourite environment and a symbol of life's origins.
In contrast to the track's heavy themes, the accompanying lyric video is representing transformation, resilience, and the beauty that arises from adversity.
It was written by Cemre Turhan, and Denis Dimitrijevic who also produced the track.- GEM said of the song, “An unfiltered reflection of my darkest chapter-marked by self-doubt, impulsivity, and an unrelenting cycle of self-deprecating inner dialogue. As the opening track of my EP, Overthinker, it represents the start of my story. Each track on the EP is its own creative ecosystem, reflecting a different stage of my evolution. To illustrate this concept visually, I introduced a distinct natural environment for each song- starting with the ocean, where I found the majority of my healing and the birthplace of all life.”
