Pink Turns Blue Releases New Album “Black Swan”
German post-punk band Pink Turns Blue, consisting of Mic Jogwer (vocals/guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass), released their twelfth studio album “Black Swan” on February 28, 2025 via Orden Records.
This marks the first album in four years since the 2021 album “Tainted”.
The new collection is aptly named “Black Swan”, a term used for an unexpected event that, in retrospect, is rationalized as if one could have prepared for it.
The album comprises 11 songs, which were written by Mic Jogwer and recorded at White House Studios in Chorin.
The band said of the album, “BLACK SWAN is meant to add colors and stories to the chapter we opened with TAINTED: Post-Punk for the world as it is TODAY.”- The band explained about some tracks for the album.
“Can't Do Without You”
“The world is becoming more and more divided. More and more energy is spent on advocating different world views and political emphasis. This is about asserting one's own point of view, and the other person is simply wrong - too stupid, too gullible or else manipulated by the media, the elite, an ideology. Or simply a racist, nationalist, sexist who is easy prey for conspiracy theories and populism. But that doesn't lead to anything, except anger, disappointment and blockage. We can only really win as a team. By not calling each other's point of view wrong, but by designing a common target landscape and working out the most viable solution possible for everyone. For well-being, we need peace and security. We must get along. This can't work without you.” -
“Dancing with Ghosts”
“An exclamation to escape a complicated relationship, 'Dancing With Ghosts' is a song about our difficulty of breaking out of an unhealthy bond. Some last a lifetime – and are not good for us at all. They suck all our energy, never give, always take. And whatever we do, it's never right and never good enough. And since it's often our best friend, mother, or sister, it feels like we owe them something, but every time we try to do something good for them, we just feel miserable and used. There is no easy way out, because whatever we do, we lose. These spirits will haunt us forever unless we challenge them and eventually manage to leave them behind. We're Dancing With Ghosts.”
“Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)”
“This is about pondering your goals in life. In the end, you will review what you have done with the time you were given. If you think the purpose was to enjoy life – did you do that? If you think your purpose was to be good and make the real world a better place – did you really try? If you think life doesn't make any sense at all – why did you act like you did? Some encounters and events leave an impression, while others made you aware of the beauty and the wonders this world.
Maybe the only thing that really makes you wonder whether there is something divine at all is LOVE. So, did you make efforts to find or give love to someone special, your partner, your parents, kids, or someone in need? Is it good to be good? Is it important to search for something deeper? Or am I just hopeless? Am I trying too hard?”
“Stay for the Night”
“'Stay for the Night' is meant for the dance floor. While we are an alternative rock band, founded in the post-punk era of the 80s, many of our fans wear black or dress as goths. And we often play in clubs that play darkwave music or goth rock at the after show party. The key message of the song is about unequal love, with one person wanting to leave the relationship or the group or going home instead of staying in the club with their (black-clad) friends and the other person asking to stay to sort things out, to give the relationship or the evening another chance.”
