Julia Michaels Releases New Song “GFY”
American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels released a new song “GFY” on March 7, 2025.
The song is the follow-up to the collaborative single “Scissors” with American singer-songwriter Maren Morris, which was released back in January.
Also, it is her third single as an independent artist.
The larger-than-life music video, directed by Claire Bishara and with creative direction by Blythe Thomas, features Julia Michaels exacting revenge on an imaginary ex-boyfriend.
She co-wrote the song with producer Pete Nappi.
On March 6, she appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “GFY” and “Scissors” with Maren Morris.
This marks the first musical guest on The Tonight Show in four years since the 2020 “Lie Like This”.- Both of “GFY” and “Scissors” are about ex-boyfriend. Julia Michaels told Rolling Stone, “'Scissors' is a funny way of saying that I’m unbothered. My skin is thick. I’m not pressed if someone wants to leave. Half the time I don’t want them to stay either.”
