Alissic Returns with New Song “CONCRETE”
Brazilian singer-songwriter Alissic returned with a new song “CONCRETE” on March 7, 2025.
It is her first music in three years since the 2022 singles “Superstitious”, “Everybody's Dead Inside”, and “bugfood”.
Also, it is the first release after she left Ministry of Sound Recordings.
The song will appear on her upcoming EP, which will feature German singer-songwriter Au/Ra.
She co-wrote the song with British rock band Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes, who also directed the accompanying music video.
Alissic told NME about the song, “I tried to be quite visual about it - how we're cutting down nature and everything is becoming material and concrete. I love how lyrics I wrote ages ago are still so relevant with what's happening in the world right now – not just with the environment, but also with politics.”
She continued, “I was letting go and forgetting [my] connection with nature, but also seeing other people's masks falling down and there being no empathy. Once we disconnect, we end up being bound to the material matrix world. We forget the wisdom of nature. I think there's just so many meanings [to the song].”- She said of her music career in a statement, “I used to sell my face for a living, but I always wished to sell my heart. So, five years I ago, I made a song in my bedroom, called like, and my dream came true. It went (kind of) viral, and faster than you can say, 'Holy poop!' I found myself in a fierce battle among Earth's major music labels.”
She continued, “After forging an alliance, I released a bunch of songs that amassed millions of streams and toured the planet. At first, I was quite the happy chappy. But soon, I became disenchanted with earth's music industry, who to me, seem more interested in making social media celebrities than the next true musician.”
She added, “It wasn't easy, but I've finally broke free of their corporate curse. And I've spent the last two years creating the music that truly reflects how I feel inside. Soon, I will embark on my maiden voyage. I hope you will join me on the journey.” -
Oli Sykes said, “My best friend released her new song today. Anyone who's been signed to a major label knows how impossible it is to leave them once they r locked in, but they told Alissic they wanted an artist when really they wanted a content creator. we made this music nearly 2 years ago, waiting for the day she could release it on her terms, with no expectations or pressure. I'm so proud of her for sticking to her guns and playing the long game, and fortunately the music she has made is timeless, so it doesn't matter it's late. Her next record is the best thing she's ever done.” - source : Apple Music
