Jessie Reyez Announces New Album “PAID IN MEMORIES”, Shares New Song “PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES”
Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez has announced her upcoming third studio album “PAID IN MEMORIES” will be released on March 28, 2025.
The album is her first body of work in three years since the 2022 album “Yessie” and comprises a 21 track.
From the album, she unveiled a new song “PSILOCYBIN & DAISIES” along with a live performance video on March 7, 2025.
The song is the sixth single off of the album, following “GOLIATH”, “JUST LIKE THAT” with Ari Lennox, “JEANS” with Miguel, “RIDIN” with Lil Wayne, and “SHUT UP” feauring Big Sean.
The track was written by Jessie Reyez, Joe Harrison, Keith Sorrells, Tyran Donaldson, Warren 'Oak' Felder, and Billy Corgan. Produced by SCUM, Warren 'Oak' Felder, Keith 'Ten4' Sorrells for The Orphanage
The music video was directed by Jon Primo.- Jessie Reyez said of the song, “Some music is indisputably timeless. To be able to cheat and get an ingredient from a timeless song and contribute it to my own is an industry hack that I'd be dumb not to use. Thanks to Billy for blessing me. Thanks to the Smashing Pumpkins. Thanks to mushrooms. And thanks to me.”
Co-writer Billy Corgan said, “I'm very honored and touched that Jessie would choose to build something so new and beautiful from the bones of one of my songs. She's so incredibly talented, and has that effortless, honest quality in the voice that I'd admire in the best singers.”
Jessie Reyez said of the album, “Emotions get lost in translation because words aren't colored the same. Ambition is one of those gray words for me, and success used to make me afraid. But it's not that deep. You live some life, you make some art, and you find your way. So thank God, because in love, in money, in spirit, and memories, b*tch: I'm f*cking paid.”
She explained about the cover art of the album, “This is from my grade 8 yearbook and exactly what I wrote at age 13. I've given myself to my passion because I never really had a choice. It was magnetic. What I didn't expect was the shift to fear once I started experiencing some success.”
She continued, “After doing some unpacking and attributing some of my fear to identifying too intensely with being the underdog, being born a child of immigrants in a dimension where 'ambiciosa' doesn't mean the same thing as 'ambitious' does in English and attributing some to survivors guilt, (for being able to make tangible what some can only dream of) i finally found an answer that landed like a cure to a sick man; If you've sweat in your garden, how dare you not celebrate even the budding flower irrespective of the fruit.” - She added, “If you sweat for what your passion is, be it art or be it love, you cannot be scared of glory. Along with my sacrifices, there have also been many blessings. Along with my long nights, there have also been many beautiful days. Along with the people I've lost, I've also had real ones stick by me regardless. Only you know how hard you work. And only you know exactly what you deserve. Inventory helps your business multiply, so I count my blessings much more often these days and the meter with which I measure my success is a wand. I am grateful. I continue to find my way. And in love, in money, in spirit and memories. Bitch I'm fucking paid.”
