Skinny Lister Announces New Album “Songs From The Yonder”, Shares New Song “Plough On”
British folk-rock band Skinny Lister, consisting of Dan Heptinstall (lead vocal), Max Thomas (melodeon/mandolin), Lorna Thomas (ukulele), Scott Milsom (bass) and Tim Hillsdon (drums), has announced their upcoming seventh studio album “Songs From The Yonder” will be released May 9, 2025.
The album is their first LP in two years since the 2023 album “Shanty Punk”.
From the album, the band released a new song “Plough On” along with a music video on February 28, 2025
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Set Us Straight” released last November.
It was written and produced by Daniel Heptinstall.
The band frontman Dan Heptinstall said of the song, “'Plough On' is about overcoming those unwelcome obstacles that inevitably get thrown our way now and then. But most of all–it's an optimistic song about successfully weathering the storm and the hope of reaching 'good times again'.”- The song references to the melody of the traditional tune “Speed The Plough”.
He said, “It's always fun to revisit uplifting traditional melodies like this, and stay connected to what we feel is the folk soul of the band.”
The new album comprises 11 songs and finds them revelling in their nostalgic touchstones, while facing the future with a wide-eyed sense of optimism and a warming reverence for what has been. -
Dan Heptinstall said of the album, “'Songs From The Yonder' carries on where our last album - 'Shanty Punk' - left off. But as well as the upbeat drinking songs and shanty style sing-alongs, which are as up front and prominent as ever, this time we've allowed ourselves a few more tender moments.
