  • Alison Krauss & Union Station Release New Song “Granite Mills”

  • American bluegrass band Alison Krauss & Union Station, consisting of Alison Krauss (vocals/fiddle), Ron Block (guitar), Russell Moore (vocals/guitar), Barry Bales (bass) and Jerry Douglas (dobro), released the second single called “Granite Mills” from their upcoming album “Arcadia” on February 28, 2025.

The album is set to be released on March 28, 2025 via Down The Road Records.
This time, the song features lead vocals from new member Russell Moore, replacing Dan Tyminski, who left the band in 2025.

Alison Krauss said of the song, “Jerry, Ron, Barry and I all met when Dan Tyminski left the band, and Jerry asked me, 'What do you think?' I said, 'Russell Moore,' and they all said, 'Absolutely!' I couldn't believe it when we went into the studio and his voice came through the speakers. He just stands there and sings with his hands in his pockets, and he kills it. The first song he did was 'Granite Mills' and about 10 minutes in, Ron was covering his mouth because he started giggling. Russell came in and inspired us all.”
  • The new album comprises 10 songs, self-produced by Alison Krauss & Union Station, and features a theme of reflection on the past.
This marks their first album in 14 years since the 2011 album “Paper Airplane”. Also, it is the first release featuring new member Russell Moore.
Russell Moore is best known as the frontman for chart-topping group IIIrd Tyme Out, he is the International Bluegrass Music Association’s most awarded male vocalist of all time.

  • Alison Krauss said of the album, “The stories of the past are told in this music. It's that whole idea of 'in the good old days when times were bad. There's so much bravery and valor and loyalty and dreaming, of family and themes of human existence that were told in a certain way when our grandparents were alive. Someone asked me, 'How do you sing these tragic tunes?' I have to. It's a calling. I feel privileged to be a messenger of somebody else's story. And I want to hear what happened.”
