Spin Doctors Releases New Song “Rock 'N' Roll Heaven”
Back in January, American alt-rock band Spin Doctors, consisting of Chris Barron (vocals), Eric Schenkman (guitar), Aaron Comess (drums) and Jack Daley (bass), announced their upcoming seventh studio album “Face Full Of Cake” would be released on April 11, 2025 via Capitol Records and released the lead single “Still A Gorilla”.
“Face Full Of Cake” is their first studio album in 12 years since the 2013 album “If the River Was Whiskey” and comprises 12 songs.
From the album, the band released the second single called “Rock 'N' Roll Heaven” on February 28, 2025.
The track was written by Aaron Comess, Chris Barron, and Eric Schenkman. Produced by Spin Doctors.
The band frontman Chris Barron said of the song, “'Rock 'N' Roll Heaven' is a hymn to an afterlife for the blue collar musician and diehard music fan alike,” says Chris Barron. “It was the first song recorded in the Face Full Of Cake session, and it set the tone for the anthemic sound of this new Spin Doctors era.”- The new album is the first release under their new label Capitol Records, and it's also the first after new bassist Jack Daley joined the band, replacing longtime bass player Mark White.
The band recorded the album at Jack Daley's studio in Asbury Park and American rock band Phish' bassist Mike Gordon's home studio in Vermont.
The band drummer Aaron Comess said of the album, “We weren't really thinking of it as a record. We've gone through a lot of phases in our 35 years, and sometimes things really gel and sometimes they're just extremely difficult. When we made this record, we captured a moment where it felt effortless. There's a really fresh energy in the tracks and a sense of us discovering the songs as we played them.” -
Chris Barron added, “Spin Doctors fans are going to be knocked out by this new record. It's got that vintage Spin Doctors sound of ear candy and denser material that harkens back to Pocket Full Of Kryptonite but with years of experience under our belts.” - source : Apple Music
