Damiano David Releases New Song “Next Summer”
Italian rock band Måneskin frontman Damiano David released a brand new song “Next Summer” on February 28, 2025.
The song is the third single off of his upcoming debut solo project, following “Silverlines” and “Born With a Broken Hear”.
Also, the song follows a cover of British record producer Mark Ronson and American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus' “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” as part of the Spotify Singles series.
He wrote the song in Los Angeles last fall.
It was written by Damiano David, Jason Evigan, Mark Schick, and Sarah Hudson. Produced by Jason Evigan and Mark Schick.
The accompanying music video was directed by YOUNUTS!, who filmed it in an Italian prison.
“At first listen, the song speaks about youthful love - an unrequited summer romance,” Damiano David said of the song. “But on a deeper level, it reveals a much larger reflection. It’s an allegory of life – how sometimes we can be prisoners of ourselves, our fears, our insecurities, our inability to change. Our failure to see the world and life from a different perspective in the crucial and defining moments of existence.”- He told Billboard about the song, “I put down in words a moment I lived during the summer. I guess it was a way, as I always do with my music, to cope with my experiences in life and feelings. The lyrics are very simple, quite childish. So I’ve asked myself why I ended up with this kind of lyrics, and I guess it’s because what I tried to do was tell a more intense and complicated feeling in the easiest way possible. It’s about not dealing with yourself and being stuck in your own limits without really understanding why things happen. It’s about not being able to face our mistakes, and instead, in a cowardly way, wishing that your mistakes could be someone else’s.”
