Djo Premieres New Song “Delete Ya” on BBC Radio 1
American actor and singer-songwriter Joe Keery, aka Djo premiered a new song Delete Ya” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming third studio album “The Crux”, following “Basic Being Basic”.
It was written and produced by Joe Keery and Adam Thein.
Joe Keery told Jack Saunders about the song, “It's a song about love, this song is about heartbreak, and it's a song about letting go. A little bit of Prince, I think that little guitar. I think it has a little bit the wistfulness, maybe of the Police, or something like that. I was inspired by them a lot. And it's kind of the same. I guess it's like the other side of the coin of the way I think about it, deletes one side of the coin. This is kind of the other side of it. Basic is the others.”
He continued, “I'm actually talking about LA and I guess for me, I just kind of mark my life and time by places that I've spent a lot of time in. So that was a place where I lived for a while. And means something different to me, and it's kind of that's the setting for the song.”- The new album comprises a 12-track and is set to be released on April 4, 2025 via AWAL.
It is his first album in three years since the 2022 album “Decide”.
He recored the album at Electric Lady Studios in New York with co-producer Adam Thein.
He said of the album, “I think just that it was made with a lot of love and care. The way that I use music is, it's just kind of like my little journal. So it's kind of tracking my life for the past two years. And I got really lucky to record at Electric Lady, and it's been a real joy to make, and I'm just real pumped to share with everybody.” -
He continued, “I mean, I kind of was making those other two records under the guise of wearing that wig and sort of masking my own self, I guess. So, this is the first one where I'm kind of leading with my own face. And I guess I'm just trying to be as open and honest with the lyrics as possible, and really just put myself out there and not try to hide. It's different than I don't have like a role to hide behind the way. But I also feel like maybe there's a opportunity for people to connect to it more.”
