  • Little Simz Premieres New Song “Flood” featuring Obongjayar & Moonchild Sanelly on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based English-Nigerian rapper Little Simz premiered a new song “Flood” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

On the track, Little Simz teamed up with London-based Nigerian singer-songwriter Obongjayar and South African singer-songwriter Moonchild Sanelly.
This marks the first time three artists, Little Simz, Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly have worked together.
But Little Simz and Obongjayar collaborated on "Point and Kill", which is featured on Little Simz's fourth studio album “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert” in 2021.
The song is the first single off of Little Simz's upcoming sixth studio album “Lotus”, which is set to be released on May 9, 2025 via AWAL
It was written by Dacoury Natche, Jonah Stevens, Miles Clinton James, Sanelisiwe Sanelly, Simbiatu Ajikawo, and Steven Umoh. Produced by Miles Clinton James.
The accompanying music video was directed by Salomon Ligthelm.
  • Little Simz told Jack Saunders about the song, “I think, for me, the energy is always on the drums really. I think kind of gives off this, like tribal feeling like something's about to happen. And I guess being in this new phase of my career, that's put this record out. That's what it feels like an awakening Saturn is coming, and a new exciting chapter.”

  • The new album is her first LP in three years since the 2022 album “No Thank You”.
Little Simz said of the album title, “When I was looking into it, lotuses are, I think, one of the only plants that thrive in muddy waters, which I thought that was really interesting. That could be a metaphor for anything, no matter where you kind of come from or what you’ve been through, you can do something extraordinary. You can do amazing things and that picture can be beautiful for you. At the time I was making a record, it was a difficult, challenging, strenuous time, but I guess I was able to take that and make art with it which is the beautiful thing.”

She added: “I think I’ve always just made records that feel super personal. I write from a very introspective place, always have done. This is just a representation of where I’m at with experimenting with new sounds, pushing my pen, nice collaborations, all of that good stuff.”
