Nina Nesbitt Releases New Edition Album “Mountain Music (The Summit)”
Last September, Scottish singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt released her fourth studio album “Mountain Music” for the first time in two years.
The album was her first release as an independent artists after founding her own label Apple Tree Records.
On February 21, 2025, she released a new edition of the album called, “Mountain Music (The Summit)”.
The update album comprises 16 songs, including the original 12 songs and 4 new songs “Enough”, “The Mountain & The Man”, “Crooked Teeth”, and “Good Years”.
All songs were written by Nina Nesbitt and produced by Peter Miles.
Nina Nesbitt said of the updated album, “After completing the original album I found myself still so inspired and ended up writing another 4 songs. 4 new songs include Enough, Crooked Teeth, The Mountain & The Man and Good Years. These are some of my favourites yet and mean the absolute world to me. And we have a new guitar tuning! After I delivered the original 12 track album, the thought of writing more seemed quite daunting. Completing Mountain Music felt like such a huge creative and personal milestone. But before I knew it, these songs came pouring out and - not wanting to end this era yet - I wanted to find a way to share them with you sooner.”- She continued, “Putting an album out is an enormous task behind the scenes for everyone involved and I've always regretfully taken years between each one. Now I have my own label, I'm always looking to find ways to release music more consistently and align with the pace in which we listen these days. An album release often used to be considered the end point, but for me, the release of Mountain Music felt like the beginning of something new. I'm really excited to continue this journey with you all and see where it takes us.”

Nina Nesbitt explained about new songs for the album.
“Enough”
“I wrote it the same day as I wrote Painkiller, which is one of the tracks on my latest album, Mountain Music. I remember writing Painkiller in the morning, on my terribly out of tune piano, then listening to the instrumental on repeat during the road trip to Brighton. Scrambling to voicenote the Ivrics as I finished them. I finally arrived at my writing session with lain Archer. I hadn't seen him in years but lain had been a very important collaborator of mine in the past. We wrote one of my biggest songs (Stay Out) together and many more on my first album. I wrote most of Mountain Music alone but something told me I should try writing with lain again as I returned to my folky roots.”
She continued, “I had a whole notes page on my phone full of an idea I wanted to try. Self esteem and body image are such huge topics and I find them hard to articulate for that reason. Everyone's experience is so different and I never want it to come across as cringe lol. I talked with lain about growing up in - and now moving away from the pop music industry and how much it had affected the way I saw myself in my teens and 20s. The unattainable beauty standards, the constant comparison, the things people say online etc. Being naturally underweight and people constantly telling me to 'eat a burger' or that I look unwell. Of course, it's not just in the music industry but also the society we live in that sends these messages we are not enough. That we need to change. Buy this. Be this. Do this. And you'll be enough. But it feels like a never ending cycle sometimes.
Before turning 30 last year, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the last decade and realised that I actually don't give a fuck anymore lol! I feel like I'm truly happy in my own skin. I don't care about the things I used to care about. I'd rather spend time engrossed in a creative task or making positive changes than worrying about how I look and oh my god, it is so so liberating. I can't believe I ever wasted time on it. Moving out of London to the countryside allowed me a lot of time in nature. lain and I got on to the subject of birds and trees and air and how in quite a comical way, they literally don't care if we have a full face of make up on or are having a bad hair day or have a billion streams or not. A crow doesn't care what anti aging skincare you're using. A silver birch doesn't care about your dark circles. It really cracked me up and weirdly put things in perspective. We're here and we're alive and that is actually so so so enough! So this is a song to remind me and hopefully you :)”
“The Mountain & The Man”
The song is for the 'opposites attract' relationships. I captured this video as a structure reference for the band just before we went inside to record it last June. The birds were singing along as if they could understand the lyrics. It was lovely and summery with a warm breeze (can you even imagine?!) — watching this takes me right back. I felt like the main album was quite depressing so I wanted to write the most beautiful song I could think of. I'd recently traded guitar tunings with @rustonkelly so I have him to thank for this! Playing the guitar part feels like floating down a river.”

“Vocal cords making vocal chords! I haven't done this kind of thing in a while.” - source : Apple Music
