DANGER SPOON Releases Debut Song “icu <3”
Los Angeles-based hyperpop producer DANGER SPOON released their debut song "icu <3" on February 20, 2025.
Equal parts unhinged and tongue-in-cheek, the song transforms obsessive love into a full-blown medical emergency, pulsing with chaotic energy and glitchy hyperpop production.
The track was written by Dajaun Martineau, Kathleen Lang, and Laureli O’Driscoll. Produced by DANGER SPOON.
DANGER SPOON said of the song, “There’s something weirdly similar between intense love and being completely at the mercy of something bigger than you. Both can feel obsessive, all-consuming, even violent in the way they take over your body. I think this song is my way of laughing at that-at how love can feel like a medical emergency. 'icu <3' has a double meaning-it’s both 'I see you' in an obsessive, all-consuming way, and I.C.U., like the Intensive Care Unit. I loved playing with the feeling of being so fixated on someone, it could literally put you in the hospital.”- DANGER SPOON produces as for other artists as well as their own project. DANGER SPOON’s music tackles personal themes: living with chronic illness such as Lupus, ADHD and anxiety; life on medication; imposter syndrome; poverty, and loss (of their father)- using aggressive, tongue-in-cheek and cringingly edgy yet honest lyrical tones.
