MARINA Returns with New Song “BUTTERFLY”
Los Angeles-base singer-songwriter Marina Diamandis, aka MARINA, formerly Marina and the Diamonds, returned with a new song “BUTTERFLY” on February 21, 2025.
The song is her first music in three years since the deluxe edition of the fifth studio album “Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land”.
Also, it is the first release after her literary debut “Eat The World: A Collection of Poems”, which was issued last October.
The track will appear on her upcoming sixth studio album.
Recently, MARINA told Plastik magazine about the new album, “Electra heart (her second album) was the original villain era. My next record is very playful and has a character-led concept, but not in the same way as Electra Heart. I found it weighty to have to commit to character for 2 years, and that's not where I'm at now. This next era is very fun. It has a special energy.”
The song is accompanied by the Aerin Moreno-directed music video.
MARINA co-produced the track with Cj Baran.- MARINA told Rolling Stone about the new album last year, “I've been writing for six months. It's still at the beginning. I haven't started producing anything yet. Part of me is desperate to get things out, but also, part of me is just saying, 'Enjoy this process.' Because this is my favorite thing: to build the record and build the world around it. I don't have any timeline yet, but sooner rather than later. I know it's been a while, but I've had things going on.”

MARINA will perform at Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival in Indio on April 11 and 18, 2025.
Also, she will appear on other music festivals such as World Pride Music Festival in Washington, The Governors Ball in Queens, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, and Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal.
