Dirty Blonde Releases New Song “Rush”
British alt-rock band Dirty Blonde, consisting of Ailis Mackay (vocals/guitar) and Hayley Tait (guitar/vocals), released a new song “Rush” on February 13, 2025.
The song is the third single off of their upcoming sophomore EP “Looking For Trouble”, following “Northern Twang” and “Polly”.
It was written by Ailis Mackay, Hayley Tait, and Martin Cunliffe. Produced by lis Mackay, Hayley Tait, and Gareth Nuttall.
The accompanying music video was directed by Liam Battersby.
The EP comprises 5 songs and is set to be released on April 17, 2025.
It is their first project in two years since the 2023 debut EP “Favourite Record”.
The band told William Wolstenholme about the EP on BBC Introducing Lancashire & Cumbria, “It's been quite a while. Some of the songs we wrote brand new for the EP, and then songs like that one ('Northern Twang'). That was actually the first song we ever wrote for the band. There's five songs in total, and we actually recorded them all last year. We've been sitting on them for quite a while.”- The band thinks it is important to perform the songs live before recording them.
They talked about how to move music from performing it live to recording it in a studio, “Because sometimes when you're writing a song, it's really important to go out and gig it first, I think. Before you go and record it, because it's so easy to doubt yourself and think, Oh, should we keep this part in? Should we take this part out? We like to overthink things all the time, don't we? So it definitely helps inform it. And sometimes they'll really like the song that you've booked in to record. So kind of indicates that as well, which helps.” -
