Ezra Collective Premieres New Song “Body Language” featuring Sasha Keable on BBC Radio 1
London-based jazz quintet Ezra Collective, consisting of Femi Koleoso (drums), TJ Koleoso (bass), Joe Armon-Jones (keyboards), Ife Ogunjobi (trumpet), and James Mollison (saxophone), premiered a new song “Body Language” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
On the track, the band teamed up with London-based singer-songwriter Sasha Keable.
This marks the first collaboration between Ezra Collective and Sasha Keable. But Sasha Keable opened up for the band's tour in 2019.
The song is their first music since the 2024 album “Dance, No One's Watching”.
It was written by Femi Koleoso, Ife Ogunjobi, James Mollison, Joe Armon-Jones, Sasha Keable, and TJ Koleoso. Produced by Ezra Collective.
The band said of the song in a statement, “'Body Language' is a tribute to the Latin American communities of London that deeply inspire us. A collaboration with a friend who has been part of the EZ family for years. The language of the body is dancing and this song is a celebration of this.”- Sasha Keable added, “I'm so happy to be coming full circle with the boys on this collab after touring years ago together. It feels like the timing couldn't be better as we get ready to road test 'Body Language' in Latin America, my motherland. This record holds a special place in my heart on so many levels.”
The band drummer Femi Koleoso told Jack Saunders about the song, “I have been friends with Sasha for years. This girl sat down, wrote performed and nailed the track in one sitting. She said, 'Good night.' Sasha Keable was in one of those talented people I've ever been in a room with. Sasha Keable opened up for Ezra collective in our 2019 tour. So for ages, she's been a part of our lives.” -
He continued, “This song was done in less than 60 minutes. Sasha is such an incredible vocalist, but she's an incredible musician, and so really it was like she was jamming with us, using her voice, and the others were using their horns and keys and stuff like that. And that's why it was so quick. It was almost like a jam session that we managed to condense into something concise.”
Ezra Collective was nominated for British Album of the Year, British Group, Best Alternative/Rock Act, and Best New Artist at the Brit Awards 2025.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 1, 2025 at The O2 Arena in London. - source : BBC Radio 1
