  • Phonseca Releases New Song “When Night Equals Day”

  • Bristol-based indie synth-pop duo Phonseca, consisting of Matthew O'Connor (keyboards) and Kristina Sheppard (vocals), will release their upcoming sophomore album “Everything Lasts Forever” on March 21, 2025 via Old Bad Habits Label.

From the album, the duo unveiled a new song “When Night Equals Day” along with a music video on February 14, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Staring at the Sea” released last October.
A wintry, never ending glacial atmosphere pervades the track, conjuring lonely and dark winter nights.
The track was written and produced by Matthew O'Connor. The accompanying video was directed by Paul Stevenson.

Matthew O'Conno said of the song, “As with the whole album, these songs have a nocturnal feel and this one is no exception. Lyrically I was inspired by classic songs like Kraftwerk - Computer Love and Soft Cell - Bedsitter and other songs too that are so evocative the images freely play out in your mind. The title refers to the Spring equinox, and by complete coincidence this was when we were recording the vocals at Invada. It's my favourite lyric and possibly my favourite song on the album and another amazing vocal from Kristina, completely embracing the song and meaning.”
