Maddie Regent Releases New Song “Turtleneck”
New York-based indie-pop singer-songwriter Maddie Regent released the fourth single called “Turtleneck” from her upcoming debut album “On the phone with my mom” on February 14, 2025.
The album comprises a 14-track and is set to be released on May 16, 2025.
At its core, the song is a poignant exploration of post-breakup disorientation, a kind of emotional limbo where the past feels safer than the present.
The track was written by Cade Hoppe and Madeline Regent. Produced by Cade Hoppe and Harper James.
Maddie Regent said of the song, “‘Turtleneck’ is about how lost you can get after getting out of a relationship. It’s tempting to ground yourself in the memory of what was, rather than accepting what is.”
She added, “This song was inspired by 19 year old me being generally down bad for anyone and anything lol!! Happy Valentine’s Day send this to your crush.”- She shared on social media, “Wrote this about crashing out watching 'Interstellar' on a Friday and wanting to text my ex. The funniest thing about men is how they try to insert interstellar into everything that they do and every conversation they have. And I know this is true because I'm a musician and I made a whole album with my boyfriend. And I gave him one song. I said I just told him about me being a lonely freshman wanting to text the asshole next door. It was like a sob story. And I said if you can relate this to interstellar, heck you know we may as well just stop everything and watch the movie right now. And I fear that he may have girl bossed a little too close to the sun with that one. No pun intended.”
