  • Katie Gregson-MacLeod Returns with New Song “Teenage Love”

  • Scottish singer-songwriter Katie Gregson-MacLeod returned with a new song “Teenage Love” on February 12, 2025.

The song is the her first solo release in two years since the 2023 EP “Big Red”.
It also marks the first release under her new label, Last Recordings on Earth, after leaving Sony Music Entertainment UK.
As the single, the song is the follow-up to the collaborative song “God I Love a Funeral” with God I Love a Funeral, which was release last month.
The track was written during a trip to Los Angeles over two years ago but remained unfinished due to leaving the previous label.
Finally, she completed the track under the new label.
It was written by Ian Berryman, Joel Potts, and Katie Gregson-MacLeod. Produced by Josh Scrarbrow.

Katie Gregson-MacLeod said of the song, “'Teenage Love' honours the small but mighty part of me where anger resides. I wrote the majority of the song over two years ago, making sense of some new resentment I was feeling on behalf of a younger me.”
  • She continued, “As a teenage girl, there is a feeling that 'angry' is the ugliest thing you can be. Only in hindsight did I realise the power anger would have given me back then; a power that I thought I would land on in the pursuit of appearing 'mature' or 'patient'. The song doesn't regret, but it questions a lot. It sieves through some residue from past relationships; unanswered questions, resentments. It also laughs at it all the way we must to make sense of it.”

She added, “This song is my first single under my new label, Last Recordings on Earth. Matt and I met a couple of years ago, on the day we wrote a song of mine called 'White Lies! Matt has always been an artist I've looked up to, not only for being the writer he is, but for his outlook on and experiences of this industry. When I was dropped by my major label in spring of last year, it was refreshing to feel that I was in the driver's seat again. It felt as though a part of me had been asleep for the past two years, and was suddenly reawakened. I knew that whatever happened next, I wanted to keep a hold of that feeling. I can't think of a home for the next chapter of my music that makes me feel quite as at ease and inspired as Matt's label. There's much more to come, but I hope you enjoy this first step into that new chapter.”

  • Last Recordings On Earth founder British-Canadian singer-songwriter Matt Maltese said, “Since writing with Katie years ago, I've always been a huge admirer of her ability to combine sadness, humour, anger and poise all at once in her work. She's undeniably a songwriter's songwriter and I can't wait to be a part of all the brilliant music to come.”
