  • AJ Tracey Premieres New Song “Crush” featuring Jorja Smith on BBC Radio 1

  • British rappers AJ Tracey premiered a new song “Crush” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

This time, he teamed up with British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith on the track.
This marks their first release together, though they performed his song “Ladbroke Grove” and a cover of Sweet Female Attitude's “Flowers” on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge in 2019.
The song samples “Used to Be”, which is featured on British rapper Wretch 32's mixtape “Learn from My Mixtape” in 2006.
It was written by AJ Tracey and Jorja Smith. Produced by Raheem Balogun, AJ Platinum and Nathaniel London.
The accompanying music video was directed by LateMilk.

AJ Tracey told Jack Saunders about the song, “One thing about this record, it feels like traditional UK rhythms. And I feel like it's a rhythm I can be proud of. Everyone can enjoy. And we're gonna kick off what I have to come for this year. So let's get right.”
  • He continued, “Crazy, full circle moment, because obviously I saw what her 'Ladbroke Grove'. And we wanted to link up on that track, like, formally, but obviously timelines and whatnot you get me, it couldn't happen. But we was actually in the studio when I made 'Ladbroke Grove', like she was there in studio and me. But she just gave me her vocals. And then I thought we tried again. We made a couple other rhythms, done a few more sessions. They were like, oh, it's not quite right. And then we made two new rhythms. This is one of them, and then, yeah, there's another one somewhere.”

  • AJ Tracey is currently working on his upcoming third studio album.
AJ Tracey said of the album, “The theme is being British, being black and British. My experience as a mixed race with man growing up in the UK, what I feel like the UK means. And I think sometimes people forget, I'm black, I'm also white. Again, my mom's White. I'm Welsh. And my experience of the UK is an interesting one. So I thought I'll put it down on wax.”
