  • PUP Announces New Album “Who Will Look After The Dogs?”, Shares New Song “Hallways”

  • Toronto-based punk rock band PUP, consisting of Stefan Babcock (vocals/rhythm guitar), Steve Sladkowski (lead guitar), Nestor Chumak (bass) and Zack Mykula (drums), has announced their upcoming fifth studio album “Who Will Look After The Dogs?” will be released on May 2, 2025 via Little Dipper and Rise Records.

The album is their first LP in three years since the 2022 album “The Unraveling of PUPTheBand”.
The band wrote 30 songs for the album and recorded 12 songs with producer John Congleton in Los Angeles in just three weeks time.
From the album, the band released a new song “Hallways” along with a music video directed by Sterling Larose on February 12, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following “Paranoid” released last month.
It was written by Stefan Babcock, Steve Sladkowski, Zack Mykula, and Nestor Chumak. Produced by John Congleton.
  • The band lead singer Stefan Babcock said of the song, “'Hallways' is the first thing I wrote for this record - at least lyrically. The very same week that we announced our previous album (unintentionally, but aptly titled The Unraveling of PUPTHEBAND), my entire life unexpectedly imploded. As word of that record circulated online, I sat on my floor, the only place I could bear to be that wasn't my bed, and started writing again for the first time in months. On that page are all the lyrics to 'Hallways'. And at the very top, 'who will look after the dog?'. It was January 2022, and without realizing it we had already started writing the followup to a record that hadn't even been released yet.”

  • He said of the album, “The title of our new record, Who Will Look After the Dogs?, is what I wrote at the top of the page, the very first thing written for this album. I think it's devastating, but in a 'holy shit this is overdramatic' kinda way. At least in context of the line that comes before it. That's what makes it funny to us. That overblown stuff we all say in our dark moments can be hilarious once you've cooled off a bit. I don't know if anyone else thinks it's funny, but sometimes you gotta laugh at yourself. It's the only way out of the abyss. Trust me.”

Bassist Nestor Chumak added, “When I first started writing the lyrics for this record, everything felt really heavy. By the time we recorded it, even those dark songs felt light and fun. We didn't even really fight while making this record. It all just felt fucking awesome.”
