Scowl Releases New Song “B.A.B.E.”
American hardcore punk band Scowl, consisting of Kat Moss (vocals), Cole Gilbert (drums), Malachi Greene (guitar), Bailey Lupo (bass), Mikey Bifolco (guitar), released the third single called “B.A.B.E.” from their upcoming sophomore album “Are We All Angels” along with a music video on February 11, 2025.
The song, which stands for “Burned At Both Ends”, follows “Not Hell, Not Heaven” and “Special”.
It was written by Bailey Lupo, Cole Gilbert, Katrina Moss, Malachi Greene, Michael Bifolco, and William Yip who also produced the track.
The band bassist Bailey Lupo said of the song, “The songwriting on the new record was the most collaborative to date in Scowl's history. Everyone brought so many ideas to the table and we were able to dissect it all and take our time. We all have such eclectic tastes, influences and personalities and you can really hear that in every corner on this album.”
Guitarist Malachi Greene added, “Hardcore and punk have sculpted how we operate, what we want to do as a band, and how we participate. At our core, we are a punk and a hardcore band, regardless of how the song shifts and changes.”- The new album is set to be released on April 4, 2025 via Dead Oceans. It is their first album in four years since the 2021 debut album “How Flowers Grow”.
The band recorded 11 songs with producer William Yip at Studio 4 Recording in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.
Drummer Cole Gilbert said woking with producer Will Yip, “Will would say, 'Everything you have here is correct, but it's in the wrong place.'”
Kat Moss added, “Will really helped restructure a lot of the material. Some songs he tore apart to make more space for the really good hooks and choruses.” -
