  • Olivia Dean Premieres New Song “It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be” from New Film “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” Soundtrack on BBC Radio 1

  • British singer-songwriter Olivia Dean premiered a new song “It Isn't Perfect But It Might Be” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is featured on an upcoming original motion picture “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” soundtrack.
This marks the first time she has participated in a film soundtrack. The song is used in the film's end credits.
The track was written by Bastian Langebæk, Max Wolfgang, and Olivia Dean. Produced by Zach Nahome and Matt Hales.

Olivia Dean said of the song, “I’ve always loved the Bridget Jones films, they’re timeless classics. After seeing Mad About The Boy I was so moved by the journey we’ve watched Bridget go on over the years. ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ is about giving yourself permission to love again after grief, and trusting that things might just work out after all, even if it’s not how you expected them to. This is the first time I’ve been a part of something like this and I can’t wait for it to come out!”
  • The film is a sequel to the 2016 “Bridget Jones's Baby” and the fourth installment in the Bridget Jones film series. It is based on the 2013 novel by Fielding.
The film was directed by Michael Morris, starring Renée Zellweger, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Leo Woodall, Isla Fisher, Josette Simon, Nico Parker and Leila Farzad.
It is scheduled to be released in the United States on the streaming service Peacock on February 13, 2025, and internationally in theaters on February 14, 2025.
  • Olivia Dean told Jack Saunders about the song, “You need to know that when you listen to the song I want you to feel like Bridget Jones, and you're living your 90s romantic comedy fantasy.”

She continued, “I'm honest, I've never done something like this before. I got the chance to watch the movie before it came out, and I was like, I want to write something, and they're using it in the end credits. And it's 90s, it's romance, it's just everything I love. And I hope people like it.”

She added, “I think it's always fun to try different things. And I'm working on my album at the moment, but this just felt like a really separate, fun little mission to go on. And I love Bridget Jones. It's so timeless and just like quintessentially British.”
