Winona Oak Releases New EP “Salt”
Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak released her fourth EP “Salt” on February 7, 2025 via Nettwerk.
The EP is the first release project under her new label Nettwerk and comprises 4 songs.
She recorded the EP with producers aron wyme, Martin Stilling and Vera in Stockholm.
For Winona Oak, these songs of the EP were written a healing for her grief.
Winona Oak said of the EP, “Writing these songs has been such a healing experience for me and I’m forever grateful to everyone involved with my project.”
She continued, “I wanted to write about topics that I wanted to get out of my system, but I hadn't felt brave enough to do when I was younger. Every song on this EP has been like a therapy session - writing about these subjects has been like putting salt in the wounds, but also salt from crying tears.”- Winona Oak explained track-by-track for the EP.
“I Broke Me First”
“One of my favorite songs on my upcoming EP! Wrote this together with Moa Lisa and Vera.”
“My Body”
“Writing this song together with Aron Bergerwall Gedin and Lina Hansson was such a healing experience. Regardless of whether you fit the conventional standards of beauty or not, we're all a part of a bigger problem - a society that makes billions of dollars on our insecurities. As someone who's been dealing with restrictive eating I know how harmful it can be to the body and the mind. It can lead to body dysmorphia, missed periods, depression and infertility. All I'm trying to say is that all bodies are beautiful and we are all worthy to be in charge of them and our own sexuality.” -
“You're Always High”
“This song is about that longing to give yourself over to someone who loves their addictions more than they love you. You want to give them everything but there’s heartbreak in knowing that they can’t accept the love you so badly want to give. You know if you let yourself give in, you will only fall with them.”
“it's not my fault”
“Without going into too much detail, I have been working up the courage to release a song like this for quite some time. It is obviously very heavy content, but I think it's important to have an honest release for this type of trauma. I hope that even just one person hears this song and feels a bit of relief from the pain by speaking over and over again 'It's not my fault.'”
