Deep Sea Diver Releases New Song “Let Me Go” featuring Madison Cunningham
Seattle-based indie rock band Deep Sea Diver, consisting of Jessica Dobson (vocals/guitar), Peter Mansen (drums), Elliot Jackson (guitar/synthesizer) and Garrett Gue (bass), joined forces with Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham to release a new song “Let Me Go” on February 4, 2025.
This marks the first collaboration between Deep Sea Diver and Madison Cunningham. They first performed the song at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles last May.
The song is the third single off of Deep Sea Diver's upcoming fourth studio album “Billboard Heart”, which is set to be released on February 28, 2025.
It was written by Jessica Dobson and Madison Cunningham. Produced by Jessica Dobson and Andy D. Park.
“I've been wanting to collaborate with Madison for a long time, and I was over the moon when this song came in such an unexpected moment,” The band lead singer Jessica Dobson said of the song. “We were just jamming in the studio and I started playing a guitar riff that I've had kicking around since high school that Madison started immediately winding around on her guitar. We looped a drum machine that my co-producer Andy Park started playing and a few hours later most of the song was finished.”- The accompanying music video was directed by Jessica Dobson, Tyler Kalberg and Peter Mansen, who filmed in Los Angeles on January 5, 2025.
Jessica Dobson said, “This song felt effortlessly cool from the start; it reminds me of some of my favorite PJ Harvey songs, full of grit & power. We shot the music video with the same spirit, and as two LA natives who both love the city—we wanted to explore our hometown. Not knowing that it was two days before the LA fires, it has subsequently taken on a new meaning as a love letter to the city we both adore.” -
Jessica Dobson shared on social media, “When Madison Cunningham and I wrote 'Let Me Go', it came after a weekend of playing music together with no expectation. We just wanted to explore and be free. When Madi and I became friends, it felt like I had always known her. She reflects back to me the things that I want to be about. That is someone who is present, always exploring and is deeply in tune with herself and the world.”
She continued, “We have such different styles of playing and singing & I loved how much they worked together seamlessly on this one. Truly a dream collaboration. I love it's quilted pattern of jangly guitars & gothy melodies. It has the grit and power that I adore in so many PJ Harvey songs. I love this song and am so happy that it is in the world now.”
She added, “Our music video was shot in LA just two days before the fires started and has since become a love letter to our hometown. Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by the fires.” - source : Apple Music
