Matilda Mann Releases New Song “Just Because”
London-based singer-songwriter Matilda Mann will release her debut album “Roxwell” on February 28, 2025.
From the album, she has released the sixth single called “Just Because”.
The song received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Artists with Sian Eleri.
She write the song with producer Jonah Summerfield.
The accompanying music video was directed by Ben Harris, starring Nico Eno and Matilda Mann.
Matilda Mann told Sian Eleri about the song, “The song took quite a long time to write. For about a year, we were like, this doesn't this isn't a song. It doesn't work. But I was really adamant that it had something in it. And we eventually wrote a pre for it, and it was born in full. And then Tobie Tripp, who's done amazing strings on this album, he also did an incredible string arrangement for it, and it's like, my fit. Honestly, if I could change one thing about this entire album. There's like, a little string section in the second chorus. And I would just blast it like it's just this little section that's so satisfying to me. And I would make that obnoxiously loud, but that's all I'd change.”- The debut album comprises 14 songs, produced by Jonah Summerfield.
She said of the album title, “I love a lot of different kind of music. So I love folk and Indian. I love choral music as well. And I didn't want to box myself into just doing one kind of song, one genre. And I also kind of wanted to experiment a little bit, I guess. So I just kind of went crazy with whatever I wanted to write, I guess. And so I tried to find something that linked all of them together. And I think a really big part of me is home and where I grew up, which is on Roxwell. So that's a student I grew up on. My parents picked it because it Roxwell.” -
She said of the album, “This is my first album, something I've been working on for years and every song feels like such a massive part of me. It's everything I want to say and more and I can't wait for you to hear it!” - source : BBC Radio 1
