Culture Shock & Grafix Premiere New Song “Giants” featuring sadHAPPY on BBC Radio 1
London-based DJ Culture Shock and Bristol-based DJ Grafix teamed up to premiere a new song “Giants” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The track features Scottish singer-songwriter sadHAPPY.
This marks the second collaboration between Culture Shock and Grafix, following “Make It Pump” released last November.
But three artists have worked together for the first time.
The track was written by Aaron Smith, and produced by James Pountney and Joshua Jackson.
Culture Shock told Jack Saunders about the song, “Our last record was make it pun, which is a straight up dance for banger. this one is the flip side to our sound. It's a melodic atmospheric hands in the air moment.”
Grafix added, “If make it pump was the dark, Giants is the light.”- Grafix said of the song, I mean, it was very much trying to get people put to put their hands up and really sort of enjoy the emotion in it. It's got an incredible top line by a guy called sadHAPPY from Scotland. And, yeah, I mean, his voice is incredible.”
Culture Shock continued, “He worked with Charlotte Henning as well to write the song, and then they sent it over, and we loved what they'd done. There's some chords and notes that work particularly well in a club environment or in a big stage.” -
He said, “Often you can kind of spoil the record, but for this one, I think it was actually came together kind of quickly. We went through a few different versions. I was touring at the time, so I had that opportunity to test it out. And I think when we got it right, it was immediately obvious, because I played out, and one of the places we played, it was in Orlando, this huge show with 60,000 people. When it hits, well, in front of a crowd that size. So hearing it there and it went off, that was a pretty special moment. You knew that had something right there.” - source : BBC Radio 1
