Allie Sherlock Releases New Song “Ex-Friend”
Irish singer-songwriter Allie Sherlock released her brand new song “Ex-Friend” on January 31, 2025.
While she is best known for performing cover songs by artists such as Adele, Ed Sheeran, and more, the song is her second original track, following “How Love Works”, which was released last October and co-written by British singer-songwriter Ella Henderson.
As with the debut song, she worked with producer Ollie Green again on the track.
The song is a powerful anthem of heartbreak, betrayal and empowerment.
Allie Sherlock said of the song, “Long story short, I liked this guy, and my friend (at the time) went after him and broke the girl code. I guess we were sort of frenemies - there was definitely something passive-aggressive about the relationship...”- Raised in Cork, Ireland, Allie faced significant personal challenges, including the loss of her mother at the age of nine and struggles with bullying, which led her to leave school and pursue music full-time.
It was during her time busking on Grafton Street that her performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Supermarket Flowers” went viral, leading to her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she stunned audiences with a cover of Adele’s “A Million Years Ago”.
She released a covers album “Allie” in 2023.
She released the debut song “How Love Works” on October 4, 2024. -
