Eddie Benjamin Returns with New Song “MANIAC”
Back in 2024, Los Angeles-based Australian singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin worked on Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes' fifth studio album “Shawn” and American singer-songwriter WILLOW's sixth studio album “Empathogen”, contributing songs, producing, and playing bass and guitar.
After the albums, he returned with a new song “MANIAC” along with a music video on January 31, 2025.
The song is his first music in two years since the 2023 EP “Weatherman”.
Also, the track is taken from his upcoming debut album, which is expected to be released later this year.
The album features songs that deal with relationships, loss, grief, and the innate need for authentic human connection.
Inspired by processing the grief that comes with the conclusion of a relationship, the new song captures the sense of a sudden ending.
It is a rock/soul/jazz whirlwind that flirts with chaos with bounds of pop balladry.
The track was written and produced by Eddie Benjamin and Alex Salibian. The accompanying video was directed by Mitch deQuilettes.- Eddie Benjamin said of the song, “Losing someone was the start of the story and my first attempt at dealing with my exploding emotions. As a listener, I want to hear what the fuck is happening in someone's life. Creating sonic stories is so secondhand for me, so when I looked at what I was going through, I had the skill set to express it without any smoke and mirrors.”
