Julien Baker & TORRES Announce Debut Album “Send A Prayer My Way”, Share New Song “Sylvia”
American singer-songwriter Julien Baker and Nashville-based indie rock singer-songwriter TORRES have announced their upcoming collaborative debut album “Send A Prayer My Way” will be released on April 18, 2025 via Matador Records.
The album features 12 songs, produced by ulien Baker, Mackenzie Scott, Sarah Tudzin.
From the album, they released the second single called “Sylvia” on January 29, 2025, following “Sugar in the Tank”.
The song is written about TORRES' dog, Sylvia.
The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Jaxon Whittington.
TORRES said of the song, “The morning I went to pick up my dog Sylvia from an upstate shelter, I was at home making my coffee and I turned on WFMU and Dolly Parton's 'Cracker Jack' was on. I burst into tears-it felt like the universe was telling me she was going to be mine (Sylvia was only meant to be a foster). I remember thinking that I'd love to write a song like that, a song that people could feel in their chest within five seconds of turning on the radio, because anyone who has ever had the honor of sharing a home with a beloved pet knows that a pet is family-they're the best friends you could ever have.”- The idea for the debut album came from Baker and TORRES, who played their first show together in 2016. At that time, they said, “You know, we should make a country album.”
For Julien Baker, the collaborative album follows her work with American indie rock band boygenius on their debut album “The Record”.
