Sunflower Bean Announces New Album “Mortal Primetime”, Shares New Song “Champagne Taste”
New York-based rock band Sunflower Bean, consisting of Julia Cumming (bass/vocals), Nick Kivlen (guitar) and Olive Faber (drums), has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “Mortal Primetime” will be released on April 25, 2025.
The album marks their first LP in three years since the 2022 album “Headful of Sugar” and comprises a 10-track.
The band self-produced the album for the first time.
The band lead singer Julia Cumming said of the album, “You get to decide what your prime is, and you fight for it. This is ours, and that can’t be taken away by circumstance. We can’t take it away from each other. This moment, where we are now, is what we’ve always fought for.”
The band shared on social media, “Nothing in life is promised. Take advantage of your mortality. Have delusional faith. Produce your own album. Don’t take anything for granted. You’re the youngest you’ll ever be.”- From the album, the band unveiled the first single called “Champagne Taste” on January 28, 2025.
The song is accompanied by the Isaac Roberts-dorected music video.
It was written and produced by Sunflower Bean.
The song title is a nod to the band’s longtime alias when performing secret shows to test out new material.
The band said of the song, “This song came after a period that felt like rock bottom for the band. It is about feeling beaten down but still driving forward, to keep faith, to grow and to continue to create on our own terms, our Mortal Primetime.” -
