Leatherette Returns with New Song “Itchy”
Bologna-based post punk band Leatherette, consisting of Michele Battaglioli (vocals/guitar), Marco Jespersen (bass), Francesco Bonora (drums), Andrea Gerardi (guitar) and Jacopo Finelli (saxophone), returned with a new song “Itchy” on January 24, 2025.
The song is their first music in two years since the 2023 album “Small Talk”.
The track is a cathartic breakup song, blending the raw energy of post-punk with the angular charm of new wave. Written from the perspective of an inept and creepy protagonist, the track navigates the emotional chaos of a crumbling relationship, where frustration, anger, and reluctant self-realization collide.
It was written by Andrea Gerardi, Francesco Bonora, Jacopo Finelli, Marco Jespersen, and Michele Battaglioli. Produced by Leatherette and Chris Fullard.
The band recorded the song at their home.
The band said said of the song, “Being eternally dissatisfied, but also tireless explorers, we decided to return to our origins, seeking the expressive freedom that can be found in DIY.”- They continued, “Last summer it was warm but we were feeling a little sad & bored so we decided to create and record two new songs and now they're coming to light and now we're definitely excited & happy even though it's cold... We involved a friend of ours Sasha Alessandro Furio to shoot two videos representing our emotions of the moment.”
