Good Neighbours Premieres New Song “Ripple” on BBC Radio 1
London-based pop duo Good Neighbours, consisting of Oli Fox and Scott Verrill, premiered a new song “Ripple” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
The song is the first release since the 2024 self-titled debut EP. The track was written and produced by Oli Fox and Scott Verrill.
They have already filmed a music video for the song, which is coming soon.
Oli Fox told Jack Saunders about the song, “We're very excited. It's just like a new step up in gear for us, and we're hitting hard. It's a song about grief, a song about my best mate, and I feel like it's a new page for us. It's really exciting.”
He continued, “It came at a weird time. So my family friend had lost his dad. And in that way of dealing with grief, he sort of like, took a step back from everyone in our friendship group. just because I think he felt bad about burdening us with the topic. And then I had this deep conversation with him, and he was just like, feel like underwater at the moment. I don't want to drag anyone else down. And then obviously, being a songwriter, thought that's quite a beautiful thing to say. But we spoke about it, and I was like, Look, whenever you're here and you come up for air, like, I'll be here, and we can just carry on as normal. And that's where the inception came from. And it was originally, like an acoustic tarry one, and then Scott flipped it with this beat, and it just took off.”- Scott Verrill added, “I think it's what we tried to do on all the other tracks. It's just like, have a fun sounding record with meaningful stuff behind it. And this is just that.”
The duo plans to released their upcoming debut album later this year. The new song will appear on it.
Scott Verrill said, “We're flying out to LA to finish the album. I'm going to work with some names out there, which is the first time we've done it. I think by end of the year is our goal. I think we were saying the other day. I mean, like people say that you have forever to work on your first record, but we've kind of Everything happened so far. So it feels like we've crammed it all.” - source : BBC Radio 1
