Yorke Releases New Song “i wanna hate you”
Last October, Australian singer-songwriter Yorke returned with “love on the run”, her first release in two years since the 2022 EP “ten feet tall”.
Following the song, she released her brand new song “i wanna hate you” on January 23, 2025.
The song is the first single of 2025.
She wrote the song with Saint Raymond and producer Josef Page in London.
The song describes the bittersweet reality of becoming estranged from a close friend.
The accompanying music video was directed by Kyle Caulfield, who also created the previous video for “love on the run”.
Yorke said of the song, “I’d started to have a bit of a grudge and hold the other person accountable, just because they weren’t growing in the same direction as me. It’s not anyone’s fault, just the reality of growing up, but I was having a really hard time adjusting to losing the version of them that I could relate to.”- She added, “I wrote a song about feeling growing pains in long term relationships and how it's okay to outgrow someone even though they will always be in your life. I wrote this song in London with Josef Page & Saint Raymond on my first writing trip there, after pondering my life choices on the train ride to the session. Hope you love it as much as I do.”
