  • Shygirl Premieres New Song “True Religion” featuring Isabella Lovestory & PinkPantheress on BBC Radio 1

  • London-based DJ and singer-songwriter Shygirl premiered a new song “True Religion” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song will appear on her upcoming EP “Club Shy Room 2”, which is set to be released on February 14, 2025 via Because Music.
On the track, she teamed up with Canadian singer-songwriter Isabella Lovestory and British singer-songwriter PinkPantheress.
This marks the second collaboration between Shygirl and PinkPantheress. But Shygirl, PinkPantheress and Isabella Lovestory have worked together for the first time.
The track was written by Isabella Lovestory, Nick León, Oscar Scheller, and Shygirl. Produced by Shygirl, Oscar Scheller, and Nick León.

Shygirl told Jack Saunders about the song, “This actually started way back in lockdown COVID era. When I was imagining what I wanted outside and what I needed. And then, I just kind of kept it to myself. And I just thought it's nice to have this little momentum of that era. But then when I linked up with Isabella and PinkPantheress. It just kind of made so much sense that they would add their list to this. And I kind of had to let it loose.”

She continued, “I'm really humble. So I was like, 'Is this even good?' And I kind of had to have my girls come and back me up and be like, 'No, this is sick.' And lay down their verses and we kind of made a girl band on this track.”
  • The new EP comprise a 6-track, featuring guest appearances from BAMBII, Isabella Lovestory, Jorja Smith, PinkPantheress, SadBoi, Saweetie and Yseult.

Shygirl said of the EP, “I've kind of brought together everyone I actually love to party with this Jorja Smith, Saweetie, Yseult, SadBoi, BAMBII, and then obviously my girls who were just on this track, but it's a full girl gang.”

She continued, “We were coming from, probably, like the back room of the club. It's all the sounds I was missing so much from the club. I think is a bit nostalgic. There's elements of like grime and like the kind of areas of music that I didn't really hear so many strong female vocalists from at the time when it was prevalent. And I was like, actually, you need to hear us now.”
