Courting Premieres New Song “After You” on BBC Radio 6
Liverpool-based post-punk band Courting, consisting of Sean Murphy-O'Neill (vocals), Sean Thomas (drums), Joshua Cope (guitar) and bassist Connor McCann (bass), premiered a new song “After You” on BBC Radio 6 Music with Steve Lamacq.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming third studio album “Lust for Life, Or: 'How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story'”, which is set to be released on March 14, 2025 via Lower Third.
The track is accompanied by a music video, which was directed by their longtime collaborator Charlie Barclay Harris.
It was written by Connor McCann, Josh Cope, Sean Thomas, and Sean Murphy-O'Neill who also produced the track.
The band frontman Sean Murphy-O'Neill said of the song, “'After You' was the first song that we wrote for Lust for Life. It is an exercise in direct songwriting, an attempt to create something very straightforward. We wanted the wall of guitars and the drums to feel almost hypnotic. A lot of the album is about the idea of duality, and lyrically - the song can be read in either a stalkerish voice or a romantic voice. It’s all up to you.”- The new album comprises 8 songs, produced by Sean Murphy-O'Neill.
Sean Murphy-O'Neill said of the album, “I was bored of overthinking. This album is what it is - something immediate, no excess. Two titles, artwork in two colours, which features two figures, and has eight tracks, all set up with a twin structure. The opening track, is mirrored by the closer, ‘Likely place,’ with the same looping motif played first with strings, then with a sharp electric guitar buzz.” -
