Zak Abel Returns with New Song “Home”
British singer-songwriter Zak Abel returned with a new song “Home” on January 17, 2025.
Last year, he collaborated with many artists, the likes of Kygo, Steve Aoki, Nile Rodgers, Eric Nam, and YouNotUs.
But he hadn't released his original music. The song is his first solo music in two years since the 2023 album “Love Over Fear”.
Also, it is the first release as an independent artist.
Zak Abel recorded the song with producers Robin Stjernberg and Ollie Green in Sweden.
The accompanying music video was directed by Johannes Lovund.
Zak Abel said of the song, “Just over a year ago, I did a writing camp with Kygo, his buddy Mads, Sandro Cavazza, Robin Stjrnberg and JL was there to film everything. Every single person in the group made me feel so comfortable to be exactly who I was. There was no judgement, just a bunch of kind, flawed, silly human beings, trying to make some cool music. We had some deep moments. We all opened up about our lives, drank a load of wine, ate some awesome food and we laughed, a lot! The first line of the song is inspired by Mads' laugh. It's the best laugh in the world Once I got back from that writing trip, I sat down with a guitar on my sofa, and while reminiscing on the experience I'd just had, I wrote Home. I then travelled to Sweden to get in the studio with the incredible Robin Stjernberg and he produced the track in to what it is today, plus some ad prod from the incredible Ollie Green. It then got mixed and mastered by the incredible Sören Von Malmborg. I'm so happy and grateful to be sharing it with you all.”- He continued, “This song is the start of a new chapter for me... It is the first time I've ever released a song without a label and if I'm honest, I'm kinda terrified coz I've never done this before I've been making music for 12 years now and I feel so lucky to be able to write, record and perform songs as a 'job'. Ultimately it's just connecting with other human beings, who also live on this spinning little rock in the universe, and saying 'I know how you are feeling', 'you are not alone'. That's the most fulfilling thing I could ever ask for. So thank you for allowing me to connect with you guys in that way. It's something I do not take for granted, and I hope I'm able to do that with you all for many more years to come.”

Zak Abel shared on social media, “I've got a nit of an announcement to make. So this next song that I'm going to put out and probably all music going forward I'm going to be releasing completely independently. And the reason I'm doing that is because I wanted to be able to release whatever I want whatever I want and however I want. And I feel like that is going to be the most effective way of me getting as much music to you guys as possible. I'm something that I've always wanted to do. Release independently. But I just haven't bee in the place in my life where I could do that. And luckily thanks to you guys mainly. Thanks to your support. I am in a position where I can now release independently. I'm so excited. Home is going to be my first song that I'm releasing completely independently so no record label, no funding, no nothing, just me to you.” - source : Apple Music
