The Velveteers Releases New Song “Bound In Leather”
Colorado-based alt-rock band The Velveteers, consisting of Demi Demitro (vocals/guitar), Baby Pottersmith (drums) and Jonny Fig (drums), will release their upcoming sophomore album “A Million Knives” on February 14, 2025 via Easy Eye Sound.
The album is their first LP in four years since the 2021 album “Nightmare Daydream” and comprises 13 songs.
From the album, the band released the fourth single called “Bound In Leather” on January 16, 2025.
The song uses vintage disco grooves and spellbinding falsettos to explore the dance floors within rock n' roll's non-binary, queer and female-fronted future.
The track was written by Baby Pottersmith, Dan Auerbach, Demi Demitro, and Greg Cartwright. Produce by Dan Auerbach.
The band lead singer Demi Demitro said of the song “To me, 'Bound In Leather' feels like looking through a kaleidoscope. It's a song about feeling bound in your skin, the chorus in part being inspired by a type of dysphoria. Feeling trapped by your own skin and wishing you weren't bound by its limitations here on earth. It also has many themes of feeling guarded and needing someone to prove their trust to you, 'cause they aren't going to win it over so easily.”- Drummer Baby Pottersmith continued, "I was disassociating constantly and feeling like I was suffocating in my own skin. Thinking of that experience as being bound by leather felt interesting.”
Demi Demitro added, “It's about seeing right through someone's facade and laughing because they have no idea.” -
