  • Peter Doherty Announces New Solo Album “Felt Better Alive”, Shares Title Track

  • British rock band The Libertines' co-frontman and singer-songwriter Peter Doherty has announced his upcoming fifth solo album “Felt Better Alive” will be released on May 16, 2025 via Strap Originals.

The album comprises 11 songs, featuring a guest appearance from Lisa O'Neill, produced by Mike Moore.
From the album, he released the title track “Felt Better Alive” on January 15, 2025.
The track was written by Peter Doherty and produced by Mike Moore.
The accompanying music video was directed by Rose Bosch.

Peter Doherty said of the song, “It's quite bouncy, quite country. 'Dredging the mouth of the Humber' is a line from Hancock [about coagulated sprinkled sugar in the bottom of a bowl of cornflakes]. The chorus I love, 'And I'd always planned/To sing in a sweet and soulful way as only cowboys can/But my saddle strap snapped like a dog-chewed tourniquet…'It's an accurate description of how I feel about certain times in my life, y'know? Treasures of the Sierra Mardre: you set off on this mission for the gold and you just ended up lost in the mountains, being hunted by bandits.”
  • Peter Doherty wrote the album around the time on The Libertines' fourth studio album “All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade”, which was released in 2024.

Peter Doherty told NME about the album, “A fellow called Mike Moore did take an interest. You might know him for the work he's done with Baxter Dury. He plays guitar and he's MD for Liam Gallagher's solo stuff. He came around to my gaff and listened to my little dictaphone (The Dictaphone Of Kerbibble, I call it) and that had a few half-formed ideas. Straight away, he felt what I felt – that there was something that needed to be mined. So we did it, and a few of them ended up as co-writes with him, because had a lot to add.”

He continued, “I believe at my core that anyone who's liked anything I've done before will love this, because it's very personal. I feel like these are songs I rate and are up there with anything I've done. I think The Libertines are stark-raving mad not to have put them on the album.”
