Bria Salmena Announces Debut Album “Big Dog”, Shares New Song “Stretch the Struggle”
Los Angeles-based Canadian singer-songwriter Bria Salmena has announced her upcoming debut solo album “Big Dog” will be released on March 28, 2025 via Sub Pop Records.
The album comprises 12 songs, featuring a guest appearance from American guitarist and singer-songwriter Lee Ranaldo.
It chronicles a story of transformation-a deeply personal exploration of resilience and a declaration of artistic independence forged through collaboration.
From the album, she released the first single called “Stretch the Struggle” on January 14, 2025.
The track was written by Bria Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings. Produced by Bria Salmena, Duncan Hay Jennings, Meg Remy, and Graham Walsh.
The accompanying music video was directed by Gennelle Cruz and David May.- Before starting a solo artist, Bria Salmena was known as lead singer Canadian post-punk band FRIGS and as a vocalist in Orville Peck's live band.
Bria Salmena said of her solo career, “I have a really hard time defining myself so concretely because I think that's just creatively boring. I want to do a bunch of different things and explore in all sorts of ways, so it's nerve-wracking-but it's also me taking ownership, and that feels good.” -
Bria Salmena shared on social media, “My debut record BIG DOG out March 28th. It feels odd to share this amidst the destruction and everything so newly raw around me.”
She added, “It's hard to know exactly what to say right now. I've lived in Los Angeles off and on for just over two years and I feel as though I'm just scratching the surface on the amazing community and people it holds. For everyone who's been asking, I'm safe and extremely lucky. You maybe have noticed I've been teasing a release, something that was partly created in various apartments all over Los Angeles. Something that I am very excited to share.”
