Miki Berenyi Trio Announces Debut Album “Tripla”, Premieres New Song “8th Deadly Sin” on BBC Radio 6
Former British alt-rock band Lush's member and singer-songwriter Miki Berenyi's project Miki Berenyi Trio has announced their debut album “Tripla” will be released on April 4, 2025 via Bella Union.
The project consists of Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar), KJ “Moose” McKillop (guitar), and Oliver Cherer (guitar).
From the album, the band premiered a new song “8th Deadly Sin” on BBC Radio 6 Music Breakfast Show with Nemone.
The song talks about the climate crisis and “the absolute disrespect for Mother Earth”.
The track was written and produced by Kevin McKillop, with production by Miki Berenyi and Oliver Cherer.
The accompanying music video was directed by Sébastien Faits-Divers, who also directed the video for their debut song “Vertigo”.
Miki Berenyi said of the song, “Simon Raymonde instantly picked this out as a single and it immediately went down a storm when we played it live. I can't pretend that I am in a position to lecture others over their green credentials but there's a broader philosophy in the song that I can relate to—humanity hurtling toward its own destruction, which (to me) applies as much to wars and social intolerance as it does environmental issues.”- The debut album comprises 9 songs, which the band recorded the album at home, produced by Miki Berenyi Trio, mixed by Paul Gregory.
The album title means “triple” in Hungarian, and is named after Miki Berenyi's Hungarian father.
Miki Berenyi said of the album, “There is something very 'grass roots' about what we're doing. There's no point following the 'announce the album, then tour, then record the next album' route—we just want to wring as much enjoyment out of this as we can, and hope that it resonates somewhere!” - source : BBC Radio 6
