Maribou State Premieres New Song “All I Need” featuring Andreya Triana on BBC Radio 1
British electronic music duo Maribou State, consisting of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, premiered a new song “All I Need” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Sian Eleri.
The song is the fifth and final pre-release single off of their upcoming third studio album “Hallucinating Love”, which is set to be released on January 31, 2025 via Ninja Tune.
This time, the duo collaborated with British singer-songwriter Andreya Triana on the track.
This marks the first time Maribou State and Andreya Triana have worked together.
The track was written by Andreya Triana, Aram Zarikian, Christopher Davids, Denise Amanda Adam, Gaidaa, Liam Ivory, and Lloyd Simon James Hinshelwood. Produced by Liam Ivory and Christopher Davids.
Chris Davids told Sian Eleri about the song, “So this was a track that we wrote down in Margate. Me and Liam started this demo initially, and we've been massive fans of Andreya Triana for a long, long time. And we met up about a year later, showed her the demo, and she just instantaneously did the vocal start to finish. And that was the first time we sort of met her and worked with her.”- The new album is their first body of work in seven years since the 2018 album “Kingdoms In Colour”.
The album comprises 10 songs, featuring guest appearances from Holly Walker, Andreya Triana, North Downs, and Gaidaa.
Chris Davids said of the album, When we were writing, we were imagining how great it’d feel to finally be back onstage, bringing people together again. The record was about being in a dark place, a place of struggle, and then looking forward to bright futures.”
Liam Ivory said, “We’ve always been very hidden in the project, and revelled in the ambiguity and anonymity. But as we’ve gotten older, we’ve wanted to show who we are much more. And naturally it made sense to then point towards British dance music culture because it’s something to be really proud of.” -
Chris Davids told Sian Eleri about album, “It's been pretty tough.” Because he underwent surgery in November 2023 due to a rare brain condition called Chiari malformation during making the album.
Chris Davids said, “It's been pretty tough to be honest, because we finished touring back in 2019 for the last record, and then obviously lockdown happened early 2020 and then sort of ever since then, me and Liam had just had a pretty rough journey with various health issues and mental health issues physical health. So the album process was quite hard to get written, but it was also really cathartic at the same time, so it really helped us through that period, but it has really been quite up and down.”
