Thelma & James (MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge) Release New Song “Happy Ever After You”
Nashville-based Canadian country music singer-songwriter MacKenzie Porter and American singer-songwriter Jake Etheridge released a new song “Happy Ever After You” as Thelma & James on January 10, 2025.
This marks their first collaboration in a decade.
Back in 2014, MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge co-wrote Misfit Parade, which was featured on Misfit Parade's self-titled debut album.
MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge married in 2020, and the song is their first single as the married duo.
Before the release of the song, they shared an impromptu video on TikTok. The video garnered over five million views while praise rolled in from fans, leading to the song's official release.
The track was written and produced by Jake Etheridge and MacKenzie Porter, with production by Lonas.- MacKenzie Porter said of the song, “We met songwriting, fell in love and chose to keep our careers separate as we have pretty different tastes in music. Usually in the morning before we both leave for our separate writes we jokingly ask, 'got any good hooks I can steal?' and 'happy ever after you' was one thrown out some months back.”
