Soft Loft Announces New EP “Modern Roses”, Shares New Song “Leave The Light On”
Switzerland-based indie pop band Soft Loft, consisting of Jorina Stamm (vocals/guitar), Lukas Kuprecht (drums), Marius Meier (bass), Sarina Schmid (keyboards), Simon Boss (guitar), has announced their upcoming 6-track EP “Modern Roses” will be released on April 25, 2025.
The EP is their first project since the debut album “The Party And The Mess”, which was released last March.
Also, it is the first release under their new label PIAS Recordings.
The band recorded the EP at Castle Studios located in the countryside of Röhrsdorf, Switzerland.
The band lead singer Jorina Stamm said of the EP title, “It's a phrase taken from our song 'Paper Plane,' which goes, 'modern roses are paper planes.' Because in 2024, you could be a bit more creative. Like, imagine folding a paper plane for somebody and handing it to them to tell them that you like them.”
From the EP, the band released the first single called “Leave The Light On” on January 8, 2025.
The song speaks to all the small things a person leaves behind when they go, making it impossible for you to move on.
The track and produced by Jorina Stamm, Lukas Kuprecht, Marius Meier, Sarina Schmid, and Simon Boss.- Jorina Stamm said of the song, “The light is never really out, and they keep falling back to each other, but never really in a good way. There's always a little bit of water left in the kettle to keep it boiling. It's that fine line between something good and something you never want to go back to. And you keep on wishing for that person to just turn the light off.”
The band shared on social media, “When everything started a couple of months ago and we were playing first international shows we made a pit stop in Röhrsdorf Castle Studios to record six kind of snapshots of life and music that we wanna do. 'Leave The Light On' is the first of six that we wanna share with you and it kind of builds the bridge from our debut album to Modern Roses.” -
They continued, “It's about leaving water in the kettle to never stop boiling, light in the hallway that never goes out and all the little things a person leaves behind when they leave. (it's also a little reminder that when you're in heartbreak, we got you, always haha) So you all leave the light on a little longer we'll be back with modern roses on 25th of April.”
