AVAION & Sofiya Nzau Team Up for New Song “Wacuka”
German electronic producer AVAION teamed up with Kenyan singer-songwriter Sofiya Nzau to release a new song “Wacuka” on January 10, 2025.
This marks the first collaboration between AVAION and Sofiya Nzau.
AVAION first performed the song during his For The Vibes live Fall 2024 tour.
For AVAION, the song is the follow-up to drown, which was released last October.
While, Sofiya Nzau joined in the song, following the collaborative song “META” with Nomcebo Zikode and Fireboy DML, which was released last October.
The track is a rich synergy of AVAION's signature analogue production style and Sofiya Nzau's enchanting vocal prowess.
In her own words, Sofiya Nzau's powerful lyrism tells a story of “finding freedom whilst honouring one's roots”.
It was written by AVAION and Sofiya Nzau. Produced by AVAION.- She said of the song, “Wacuka is about the tension between choosing to follow tradition and expressing individuality. It's a feeling that resonates with many, but I wanted to capture both the struggle and the hope in the lyrics.”
