A Great Big World Returns with New Song “then there were sparks”
New York-based pop duo A Great Big World, consisting of Ian Axel and Chad King, returned with a new song “then there were sparks” on January 10, 2025.
The song is their first music in four years since the 2021 album “Particles”.
Also, the track will appear on their upcoming EP of the same name “Then There Were Sparks”, which is set to be released on February 21, 2025.
The song beautifully showcases their signature, melody-driven songwriting, while delving into themes of rediscovery and fresh beginnings.
It was written by Chad Vaccarino, Dan Wilson, and Ian Axel. Produced by Chris Cubeta.
Ian Axel said of the song, “'Then There Were Sparks' is a really personal song for me! Over the last few years, I had found myself gradually singing and performing less. And as time passed, I just became more and more afraid of it. I kept making excuses for myself, and I felt like I was losing my ability to dream. I knew there was still this fire, or this spark within me that I had been ignoring, and it needed nurturing. So for me, this song is about re-discovering myself as an artist, and the magic that comes when you tap into your heart to create something new.”- The new EP comprises a 5-track, including the title song, a second powerful new track titled “Go On”, and three reimagined versions of their iconic hit “Say Something”.
Two of these reimagined renditions were released last October in celebration of the song’s tenth anniversary, offering fresh takes on a timeless classic. -
The duo shared on social media, “As some of you know we are releasing a new song tomorrow titled 'then there were sparks'. For us, it's a song about living our truth and manifesting dreams. It evokes hope and hopefully inspires and uplifts. That being said, we acknowledge and are devastated by the natural disaster happening right now in Los Angeles, a city we both hold dear. Our hearts are broken for LA and the people that live there, many of whom are loved ones. We hope for the safety of its residents, its first responders and encourage people to come together to help one another through this difficult time.” - source : Apple Music
