Julia Michaels Teams Up with Maren Morris for New Song “Scissors”
American singer-songwriter Julia Michaels teamed up with American singer-songwriter Maren Morris again to release a new song “Scissors” on January 10, 2025.
This marks the third collaboration between Julia Michaels and Maren Morris, following the 2020 “Circles Around This Town” and the 2024 “Cut!”.
For Julia Michaels, the song is the follow-up to “Heaven II”, which was released last November.
The track was written by John Ryan, Jordan Johnson, Julia Michaels, and Stef Johnson. Produced by Monsters and Strangers, and John Ryan.
The accompanying music video was directed by Blythe Thomas.
Julia Michaels said of the song on Good Morning America, “We wrote together for the first time in 2020. We did a song called 'Circles Around This Town' together that got nominated, actually for Best Country Song at the Grammys, and from then, we've worked together since. And we wrote together last year for her album, and did a song called 'Cut!'. And she had texted me and was like, 'Would you want to do this song with me?' And I was like, 'Duh'. And I was like, 'Speaking of 'Cut!', I actually have a song called 'Scissors'. Lol. Okay, Would you want to do that one with me?', and she heard it and she was like 'Oh my gosh, yes.' She said of her writing process, “I definitely think songwriting comes down to just a feeling. If it feels good to you then it must be good. And I think the best part making music is making it obviously personal to you, but it bing able to relate to a lot of people and who doesn't want to cut people out to their lives from time to time.”- source : Apple Music
