  • Clara Mann Releases New Song “Driving Home The Long Way”

  • London-based indie-folk singer-songwriter Clara Mann released her brand new song “Driving Home The Long Way” on January 8, 2025.

The song is the fourth single off of her upcoming debut album “Rift”, which is set to be released on March 7, 2025.
It was written by Clara Mann and produced by Fabian Prynn.

Clara Mann said of the song, When I first started to have to put words around the album, identify motifs, themes, I remember saying to people 'Oh, this one is one of the happy ones!'- and when they asked me to explain the story, I burst into tears. It's funny how happy songs can sometimes hold more feeling than sad ones, because there's somehow the feeling that there's more at stake, there's more to lose- in a sad song, it's already lost, and the grieving process has already begun.”
  • She continued, “I've always been so attached to my independence, so fiercely protective of it. I'd drive thousands of miles alone to prove that I could, that I didn't need anyone- and then one day I just realised that I wanted to be able to let go of the wheel and not feel like everything was going to fall apart. I wanted to let someone in and not feel like I was losing part of myself, because they loved me as I was: free.”

She added, “In the end, when I'm really in love with someone, it's because they feel both like freedom and like home in equal measure. These days, I know that I want to share the journey, because freedom doesn't mean anything on its own, on MY own. I want to sit in the passenger seat and watch you drive, I want to feel limitless, alongside you.”

  • The debut album comprises 10 songs, which she recorded at the 4AD Studios in London with producer Fabian Prynn.
Clara Mann shared on social media with album cover, “The photography is by dearest Inigo Blake, who understood everything . It's from a photo road trip we took around many service stations and strange bits of woodland, and that's what Rift is really- a liminal, empty landscape, through which you make your way. It's other things too but you have to wait til march 2025 to find out what lol.”
