Prima Queen Releases New Song “The Prize”
All-female alt-rock band Prima Queen, consisting of Louise Macphail (vocals/guitar) and Kristin McFadden (vocals/guitar), released a new song “The Prize” on January 7, 2025.
The song is taken from their upcoming debut album of the same name, which is set to be released on April 25, 2025 via Submarine Cat Records.
The track was written by Kristin McFadden, Louise Macphail, and Steph Marziano who also produced it.
The accompanying music video was directed by Mike Upson.
The band said of the song, “Writing 'The Prize' felt kind of magical - we thought we had finished the album but this song suddenly came to us while we were writing in the studio with our producer Steph (Marziano) and we knew it had to be the album title-track. It felt like it tied all the other songs together in a really special way. It’s a song to remind you that YOU’RE THE PRIZE which is easy to forget sometimes!”- The band said of the album, “We knew right back when we first met each other we were going to be best friends. We knew we wanted to write and perform music together, and felt that somehow fate brought us together from across the world to do that. Since then we’ve dedicated our lives to making music together and all those years of love, hard work, exploration and self discovery have accumulated in this album, we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it!!! It goes from mexico to glastonbury to ball-pits and to spaceships. it talks about friendship, peaches, blood in the sink, heartbreak, getting lost in the sauce and finding yourself again. it’s a whole lot of things in one.”
